FAQS

Have questions on our sealcoating process? We have answers! Read some of our commonly asked questions below to get answers or contact us if you have additional questions.

  • How does it work?

Sealcoating is applied in a thin layer over the paved surface. This liquid layer covers the asphalt and helps to prevent damage from occurring by acting as a barrier. With this protective layer, vehicle fluids, water, and damaging UV rays are unable to penetrate the surface of the pavement and cause damage.

  • When should I have an asphalt sealer applied?

We recommend allowing your new asphalt to cure for at least 30 to 60 days. This will ensure that it is free from oils and properly cured so the sealer can adhere properly.

  • What is sealcoating?

Sealcoating is designed to protect and enhance the look of asphalt surfaces. They help to prevent the oxidation of the asphaltic binder. This sealant also protects against weather damage, reduces maintenance costs, and will have your asphalt looking great for years to come!

  • What type of weather is best for sealcoating?

We recommend that you avoid sealcoating if rain is in the forecast. Also, the temperature must be at least 50 degrees and rising for a 24-hour period.

  • How do you apply the sealcoat?

Asphalt sealer can be applied using a variety of methods, such as with a squeegee, a brush, or specialized spray equipment.

  • How long does the sealant need to cure?

Sealant needs to cure for at least 24 hours before walking or driving to ensure it has cured completely.

  • How should the surface be prepared for sealcoating?

To prepare your asphalt, we will remove any loose dirt or other material. Additionally, we may need to repair any holes or cracks and also treat any oil, gas, or grease spots for ultimate adhesion.
